Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeon John W. Van Gilder, D.D.S. of Barrington, IL is a Board Certified Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeon with expertise ranging from corrective jaw surgery to wisdom tooth removal.  Dr. Van Gilder also diagnoses and treats facial pain, oral pathology, facial injuries and TMJ disorders.

Our surgical staff is trained to assist a full scope of surgical procedures as well as intravenious anesthesia in our office.  In addition all staff are informed administrative personnel, well- versed in health and insurance policies.

Dr. Van Gilder graduated from the University of Notre Dame in 1978 where he received a B.S. degree and continued to Loyola University School of Dentistry where he graduated in 1982 and received his D.D.S. He went on to receive his General Practice Residency at the TMJ Myofascial Pain Center, University of Illinois in 1983 and a Residency in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery at Buffalo, New York in 1986. In 1987 he completed a Fellowship at The Orofacial Pain Dentofacial Deformities Center, St. Mary's Health Center, St. Louis, Missouri. Dr. Van Gilder is on the medical staff at Advocate Good Shepherd Hospital, Barrington, IL . He is a resident of Barrington, IL  and in his spare time enjoys spending time with his wife and three young children.
